If you fancy one of the finest hot chocolates in Plymouth, head for Toni & Guy - and while you’re there, why not have your hair done, too?
I was treated to my hot chocolate by Kelly, owner of Toni & Guy in Plymouth, who confided the drinks there happened to be so top-notch because her husband, Luke, tried the original offerings and ripped the machine out, replacing it with something that is obviously the best.
That’s rather what I’ve come to expect from Toni & Guy anyway, as the brand itself and Kelly as the Plymouth personification of it don’t do things by halves. They cut hair, not corners.
It turns out I’m not the only one to think it’s possibly the safest place to be in Plymouth during the pandemic.
Surgeons who frequent it have told Kelly the hygiene, cleanliness and Covid-19 precautions are of such a high standard that they’d feel perfectly at ease carrying out operations there - and if they’re anything like the world-class surgeons I know, they wouldn’t say that sort of thing if they didn’t mean it.
Kelly has bent over backwards then backwards again to make the salon not only the safest place you could possibly have your hair done, but also one of the most relaxing.
The place sparkles and has all the glam of a five-star hotel (or, at least, the many I’ve stayed in as the Editor of Prestigious Magazine).
Unlike so many other salons, business has remained brisk and spare appointments certainly aren’t growing on trees, but its regular clientele, being from the stylish end of Plymouth, know a good thing when they see it and won’t be deserting Toni & Guy any time soon.
There’s always a danger a salon could take so many precautions that you end up feeling like an inconvenience, but Kelly has managed to make Toni & Guy Plymouth the most relaxing, welcoming and comfortable place to be while putting safety first, second and third.
I’ll drink to that.
