Chapter One is one of my favorite places to be.

I have been a customer at the Haddington shop since opening in early 2020 and it felt like ‘home’ very quickly.

This is down to two particular people,.
As hostess, I believe is the hardest job in the salon as she represents the ‘face’ of Chapter One. Amanda definitely is that face and ‘Rocks’ it.

The other person, is my stylist, James.
These two professionals have completely different jobs but approach them with the very same approach.

Their ability to make a stranger feel comfortable, relaxed and ‘at home’ soon as they arrive in the salon is a skill.

Lastly and most importantly, my sister has a learning disability which causes her acute anxiety going to new and unfamiliar places.
In her words “Amanda and James make me feel nice as they don’t ignore me like most people”.
That feeling they give her makes them special people to me.

Had my hair cut and coloured and asked Paul to style it different to my normal bob.. Loved the new curl/flick which he gave me. Thank you Paul loved it.

Just home from a very pleasant hairdressing experience in Haddington.
Good ambience, adequate spacing, provision of PPE and comfortable seating. The salon has an air-ish feel with lots of natural light and high ceilings. I attended pre-appointment for a colour consultation and wasn’t disappointed by the appointment itself. I left feeling that my style and colour had been fully refreshed! James thank you !

I came in for a consultation regarding hair extensions for my wedding. I was made to feel welcome from the second I arrived. Cameron took the time to listen to what I was looking for and she explained everything to me clearly. She was extremely knowledgeable and was able to answer any questions I had.

I love going to Chapter One for my hair cut and colour. It’s such a lovely, relaxing time. Fresh coffee and water are offered and a clean welcoming environment make it a zen like experience. James is always so helpful and listens to what I’d like as well as giving expert advice. He goes the extra mile and I leave feeling a million dollars!

James is such an incredible hairstylist. He knows exactly what to do to make you look and feel amazing. But in addition to being incredible at what he does, he is such a lovely lovely person. Made me feel totally at ease in what was a very important transformation for me! He made me feel important and was equally as invested and excited at the transformation he created. Loved every minute of getting my hair done by James and I can't stop smiling everytime I catch my reflection of the new me! So so so many thanks ❤️

Delighted with my haircut from James today!

James listens to what I want in a haircut. He has transformed my hair as a result. His skills are the reason I travel from Edinburgh to Haddington.. But this is also a very stylish salon where I always find a parking space.. Other staff are also delightful and welcoming and their Covid precautions make me feel very safe. Highly recommended.

Having attended a salon in Edinburgh for many years, I chose to look for a salon closer to home as I am working from home these days. Its always a little daunting changing your hairdresser but I looked at reviews and booked an appointment online with Cameron and attended yesterday for my first visit. I cant praise the salon highly enough! All staff are very friendly and it is a beautifully designed space. Cameron listened carefully to what I wanted and made some suggestions of her own which I was delighted about. She gave me a great hair cut, I am chuffed to bits! I will definitely return and help to support local business. Thank you Cameron (and Olivia too!).

After my first appointment with Paul, my hair has never looked or felt so good! Best cut I’ve had in years. I’ve now had my hair coloured for first time too and I was a bit nervous, but Paul explained all of the options, completely put me at ease and I’m delighted with the result. Thanks Paul!

This is second time I have visited the salon and was not disappointed! I love the colour and the customer service is second to none. Very professional, and let’s not forget the massage chairs you sit in whilst you have your hair washed!

The salon is very modern and minimalistic. There are massage recliners at the sinks. All very artistic. Lovely Redken products. BUT a disappointing standard of cut and inappropriate colour for my age. Won’t go back.

Had a really great experience getting my hair done here at the weekend. My stylist, Cameron, managed to remove awful black box dye from my hair with bleach while maintaining its condition and giving my hair a more natural brown tone and transition. Cameron is very talented and hardworking and I left the salon feeling really confident, and I'm grateful to have hair that feels soft and healthy in spite of the fact that it's been bleached, thanks to the skilful and gentle treatment of my hair. The rest of the staff are lovely, and the atmosphere of the salon is tidy and modern.

Even with the changes in place, it didn’t impact the service or environment. It’s always a relaxing experience whenever I get my hair done and nothing has changed! Would recommend James and the team over and over again.
