About us

TONI&GUY YORK opened in the town in 1998.

We are committed to providing the ultimate salon experience, paying great attention to customer service. Our talented team of stylists and technicians are on hand to give you expert advice on the latest trends and services.

Members of our salon are part of the TONI&GUY Session Team and have worked alongside the International Artistic Team on catwalk shows at London Fashion Week, bringing the latest trends from the catwalk to our clients.

Members of our Colour team hold the prestigious Wella master colour expert-their knowledge and expertise are on hand to advise you on the latest colours and techniques.

We offer many additional services including Bridal and Occasion hair, the NanoKeratin Smoothing blow-dry and Microlinks/ring Tape extensions. Our wide range of haircare products include label.m, Kerastase, GHD, Wella, Tangle Teezer to keep your hair salon perfect until your next visit.

STRENGTH IN STYLE Strength in Style is now available in this salon, offering people affected by cancer specialist support and advice on hair care. This service includes styling pre, during and post treatment hair, and wig personalisation with the option to purchase synthetic and human hair wigs. So... not a reviewer per se, consider ‘service’ should be just that but when you find a stylist who gets you, well it’s just poetry.

I don’t know my own mind half of the time with my look but Matt just understand me and my needs and has talked me out of what would have been terrible decisions!

After waiting to pay I was then told it would be £169 which seemed alot more than usual. Another person came who then said it would be £148. I got home and phoned to ask about the price I was then told I had been over charged by £41 . Paying for parking and waiting for a space as it was so busy returning back to the hairdressers I am then told again that the price is wrong and I am only been credited £26.40. 4 people all telling me a different price. I've been coming along time and I was even asked what I normally pay which I told them but they still came up with totally different prices. Not good today.

6 week cut and finish

Needed a trim after 6 weeks. Frankie suggested thinning out my hair but seemed to take it to the extreme and I ended up with it quite short which does not suit me.
Thought I might be able to style it at home better but it is too short.

Fantastic! Claire took the time to ask me lots of questions about my hair and my preference and then explained what she thought would suit my face, features and hair type. Then gave me the most lovely hair cut and styles, plus giving me tips on styling it myself.
Thank you so much Claire, what a lovely experience (plus the young man who washed my hair was so pleasant and considerate and give me a lovely scalp massage)

I had a colour and a cut today - the box does not enable both names to be selected. The colourist was Jenny
I don’t feel my experience today lived up to expectations with what I have come to expect, neither was it commensurate with what I paid
From tick box style of reception, which felt like going through the motions, to disappointment at having had highlights and coming away with a large patch of grey hair over each ear which the whole idea of having a colour is to disguise - it looks awful & detracts from the look I wanted and I might as well not have bothered
I would expect that when booked for a colour, my record would have been to hand when I arrived as a starting point for a discussion on what I wanted on this occasion, instead of having to start from scratch and wait for it to be retrieved
I am also disappointed with the cut, which is not as stylish as I have come to expect. My parting is on the opposite side, the front is too flat & does not suit me - I need some height and my fringe is too solid
Not a satisfactory outcome
A positive comment for the young man who shampooed my hair who was very good at making sure everything was comfortable - water temperature, seat height etc and very polite. I thought he went the extra mile in customer service
