Response from Alnwick Studio Hairdressing
Dear Leeanne,
I’m really sad that you have reviewed the ‘value for money’ so badly, even though you say how happy you were in every other respect. You say that you’ve never had a professional colour before but I have to say, having this level of professional work, with this quality of products, in the environment that you were in, does cost that much.
You didn’t ask how much your colour service would be and I need to point out some other odd elements to your review. Your cut and finish was charged at £39.50, which is exactly the same as your previous visit. It’s notable that our prices have not changed in 18 months as we have tried to absorb our increasing costs so as not to pass these costs on to our customer base.
Your complete colour makeover (with colour correction) cost £62.40. It took our experts a mixture of three colours on the regrowth of your previous home-done colour and a completely different process through the lengths to create a colour match. Your visit was over two hours, being looked after by three fully qualified operators, who each expect to be paid fairly for their work. The product alone would cost the Studio more than half of the colour element of your bill, even before paying your operators and all of the associated costs of providing a town centre, high end salon experience, with Bari Tea and a Running Fox scone with a myriad choice of condiments available from our extensive menu.
We would be more than happy to re-send your email receipt which shows the actual prices you paid and a detailed breakdown of your bill. Your next appointment in August will be simply a refresh of your colour, now that it has been achieved and will cost only £48.50 even though once again your whole head of hair would receive treatment with the world’s leading products. But, add your haircut at £39.50 and a scone at £3 and your bill will only be £10 less.
Please reconsider your review as it reflects upon your hairdressers so badly, especially considering the inaccuracies. If you would like to speak with me directly, I would be more than happy to talk you through this. I would just close by saying ‘value for money’ is very different from ‘expensive’ and ‘expensive’ is very different from ‘value for money’. £20 for Kit Kat is expensive but £200,000 for the average house is great value for money.
Kind regards,
Nigel.
