Zero stars. Worst hair cut experience of my life. Asked for simple one length bob, providing stimulus showing just above shoulder length and the hairdresser took off length to half way up my neck on her first cut and from that point refused to acknowledge what she'd done, ending up cutting the hair in an awful slope down to the face to try to hide it, as well as straightening it (despite a request not to) just to make it look longer. Made a formal complaint after the event - showing my stimulus pictures and pictures of my cut, which couldn't be more different - and Nikki (reception) was lovely, but then I was passed onto the punchy salon owner who had no interest in my experience. Rude and dismissive. I could not recommend this place less, from start to finish, unheard the whole way through from haircut to feedback and now have to live with a very tacky, messy hairstyle. Dread to think what people get when they ask for something more complicated than a one-length bob.

Kersha did a fab job highlighting my hair a lovely bright natural looking blonde and cath really listened to what I wanted and understood my hair - fabulous cut.

I’m not from Bath and I struggled so much to know a professional hairstylist, then I found Essensuals have a 5 star reviews, Layla is so brilliant she chooses the perfect hair shade that suits my skin colour, and since then she is my favourite hairstylist. I can’t trust anyone to dye my hair except Layla!! All the best

Another wonderful experience at the hands of Layla again. I’ve been visiting the salon for just over a year and a half and the difference to my hair is phenomenal. I’ve always craved soft, shiny hair and never managed it until now. My hair was dull and exceptionally brittle (bad treatment from myself bleaching my own hair). From the moment I met Layla, she assured me that things could change and made me feel positive. I’ve been frequently visiting the salon ever since for a full head of highlights and in between I book in for brighter lights top up. My hair is now soft, silky and strong (minimal breakage and 100% elasticity). The salon are amazing and Layla should be cloned, she’s not only an amazing hairdresser but a true friend. I love my salon experiences and would recommend the salon to everyone. Thank you Layla and team.

Popped in on the off chance without an appointment and was told that Claire was free straight away (good timing!) After a quick chat with her about what I wanted, a lovely girl (don’t know her name, sorry) made sure I was comfortable and washed my hair. She was friendly and chatty throughout and offered me an extra conditioning treatment which I declined this time, but she still gave me a fab head massage.
The cut itself was just what I wanted and Claire was relaxed and approachable with great attention to detail which made me feel like I was in safe hands! I’ve left with shiny, healthy looking hair with lovely swishy layers; thanks to both for such a fab experience ?

I have very frizzy hair due to highlights. I have had a new set of highlights put in today together with nano keratin treatment and my hair looks beautiful, strong and shiny. Love the service you provide every time I’m in. Thank you!!

My original cut was exactly like the photo I had shown stylist but after a while I just felt the front was too heavy for my face. Kersha layered and shortened the front a bit more and it was just right. Many Thanks.

A brilliant express cut as always. Took my children in too who were also kindly given juice and biscuits. I always come here- also for children's cuts as staff are always highly skilled, very welcoming, friendly and accommodating. A superb salon!

This was my first visit to Essensuals, it is a warm & friendly salon with a calm and relaxing atmosphere. Good Coffee on arrival, great head massage from the apprentice. My Stylist listened carefully and discussed what I wanted, giving advice on what would work with my layers. I was really happy with the end result, both the cut and blow dry were excellent. Really simple on line booking system, looked after well on the day, Shannon gave me what I asked for and also offered her advice based on my hair and her expertise. Beth (I think that was her name) who washed and tested my hair was very friendly and professional. Will be rebooking

I have going to Essensuals for several years, would highly recommend this salon. All the staff are wonderful, always very caring and professional, I have seen many of the young assistants go through their journey to qualifying in their specialism, all staff are great from reception , stylists and assistants! Although I am very pleased with my haircut and the hair dresser I saw was great, i must admit it didnt feel quite like the treat i thought it would. Having not had a haircut for a while I decided to make the trip to Bath especially, which is probably not something I would bother with again. I was asked 3 times by 3 different people if I wanted a drink (which I did mention whilst there), 3 attempts to get a glass of water! I also felt like the cleanliness at the salon wasnt what I expected. The customer toilet was grubby with a loose toilet seat, I had to pick hairs out of the sink before I felt comfortable to rest my head back in it (I would expect the sink to be rinsed before the next customer) and I was asked to stand behind my chair to check my cut afterwards and just had to stand in a pile of my own wet hair which of course stuck to my shoes (would have been nice if it had been swept aside just as a courtesy although I noticed other customers also standing in piles of their own hair so maybe I'm just picky). There was also discarded used up foils thrown on the floor behind the sink area and the sink I used was covered in hair dye splatters.
Perhaps i am being picky as i was expecting top quality. Considering I dont have anything too special done with my hair, I'm a little disappointed having spent the extra money to treat myself.
I would like to stress however that my stylist and my hair cut were both lovely.

I booked my appointment in advance with Tom but, after animatedly and chattily cutting the hair of the lady next to me for about 15 minutes, he apparently went home ill before it was time for my appointment. I was given a 5 minute trim by someone else. Very expensive 5 minutes!

Clean efficient and excellent service. I never leave disappointed. Conveniently situated with parking nearby. Highly recommended

I have been coming to Essensuals for a few years now and this was after I had tried several other salons.

Layla listens to what I want and suggests options, my hair is coloured and also cut and I am always delighted with the colouring. I have it styled differently and each time I can honestly say I am treated as well as when I was a new customer.

I’ve been going to Essensuals Bath for several years and it
never fails to please and deliver. The staff are fabulous-professional, friendly and attentive without being OTT. The salon has a relaxed atmosphere but attention to detail is high. The little things-presentation of refreshments and remembering your coat give a personalised touch. Then of course, there’s the hair-the cut is amazing and maintains the shape and style, despite my hair being a challenge.
I wouldn’t go anywhere else-simply the best!
