I honestly cannot recommend The Hair Room enough! I’ve always been protective of my hair and after a bad experience growing up, I refused to have it cut for years. My aunt first took me here a few years ago, during which I got highlights for the first time, and I was very happy with the new look.
Unfortunately, I’m not local, so at one point I decided to go to a salon nearer to me, to save on train fare. This turned out to be a bad idea as I then ended up at The Hair Room anyway to have my hair fixed. Now I can see why my nan (another family member who uses this salon and who also isn’t local) travels so far to get hair done. I’ll be moving even further away in a few months, but that won’t stop me from making the trip back!
My first highlights were very natural but since then I have been getting progressively lighter. My visit before last (six months ago), I told Helen it was as though she had looked into my mind and saw what I wanted without me knowing what I wanted! Yet at my latest appointment (yesterday), I was even happier! I’m at the exact shade of blonde I want to be but achieved without bleaching my entire head by myself (not something I’d ever want to try anyway).
For a while I have wanted to get my ends coloured. I chickened out last time but finally took the plunge at yesterday’s appointment and went blue. Sadly, there weren’t any options available to me on the shade of blue and it’s not quite as vibrant as I’d imagined but I love it and can’t stop looking in the mirror! I’m already planning all the possible colour options for next time and look forward to working with Helen again.
My partner, who hasn’t had a haircut in years also had an appointment yesterday, although with John. She just had her hair cut and styled rather than coloured, but from what she told me, she also seemed very happy with the experience.
I could probably write a lot more on how great the staff are but I think this review is already long and detailed enough. Definitely recommend!

A lovely experience as usual. I have been really lucky to find a salon where they take the time to make you feel and look great. My stylist Helen makes sure that I leave the salon with my hair looking beautiful every time. As I am a mature lady with longish hair I feel that she really understands how to cut and style it to make it look the very best. I always feel 10 years younger!
This was my first time at this salon. Julie was fantastic and really listened to what I wanted. I was in the salon for much longer than I expected to be (not a bad thing!) because she took her time to get the cut right and had great attention to detail. Definitely coming back.

Katy cut my 3 daughters hair. She was great. She took time with my 6 year old who wanted her hair cut short, doing it gradually. Also very patient with 2 year old who was moving her head all the time.
Katie advised me on a new colour which everyone loves . A great transformation I'm really pleased!

Fantastic staff who continually do whatever they can to make cutting both my sons and my own hair a hassle free experience. I have travelled 40 mins regularly to have my hair cut there.
